AQUELARRE — the dark & mature medieval RPG *now in English*

Created by Nocturnal Media

Perhaps the best RPG not available in English & one of the most gorgeous RPGs anywhere, Aquelarre deserves a deluxe edition in English.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Stretch Goal Updates
over 8 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2015 at 12:24:12 PM

Wow, thanks for the flurry of support. It still seems unlikely to me that we'll down the next stretch goals, but I was pretty certain this wasn't possible and I might be proven wrong! Here's how things stand:

Main Stretch Goal = 526/600 copies

The silk bookmark is official at 500 backers for copies of Aquelarre (and the Box).

The count has now reached 526 of the 600 needed to unlock the sixth stretch goal — a solitaire adventure. This is one that I really want for myself too, so I hope we make it!

What can you do? Most of you are already pledging for a copy of Aquelarre, but adding the Box for $60 counts toward this goal too.

Dice Stretch Goal = 571/666 Total Backers

This extra stretch goal is based on the total number of backers, whether it's a $1 backer or an IMMACULATE. At 666 total backers, I'll give free 3d6 (the 666 3d6) to everyone who adds other dice to their pledges. The 777 3d6 is surely out of reach, but there's a chance we'll collect 95 more backers in these final 16 hours.

What can you do? If 20% of you could get one friend (or one MORE friend!) to pledge at any level, even $1 or how about $5 for the Brevarium PDF, then we'd close this one out. (If 40% of you could do this, then the 777 3d6 could be yours free too!)

Spanish supporters should point out to their local Aquelarre fans who may not need an English edition of the game that they can become a $1 supporter or for $25 they can get an original art sketch card!

Final Steps

I'm going to do a few more email and social media blasts of my own. If you follow me on Twitter (@stewartwieck), then be certain to retweet my entreaties. Thanks for all your support!

Free Dice!

Color reference for the free 666 3d6.

Amazing. You did it! Free 666 3d6 for all backers who have pledged for any add-on dice.

You can read more about these dice in an earlier update.

To receive these free 3d6 you need only add ANY other dice to your pledge rewards. Primarily, this means adding $4 for a pair of the goat-head adorned d10 (for % rolls). You may add 2+ pairs of these dice for $3 for pair.

If you're backing at THE BOX, IMMACULATE, BLESSED MASTER, BLESSED DISCIPLE or BLESSED GAMBLER you may also add limited edition dice. These d10 are $2 each or $5 for the set of three different limited d10.

  • Can we possibly reach 777 backers so you also get free "777 3d6"??

Help for the Final 48 Hours

There's no new information here, and not much description (you can find more verbose versions of all this in the other updates!).

My Recommendations

It's easy for me to pledge your money...! But I highly recommend you consider THE BOX pledge level. It includes all the basic add-ons and gives you access to the limited edition d10. Even if you do pledge THE BOX, then you should consider add "a" BOX as a $60 add-on.

And while this is a project for the English translation of Aquelarre, a new edition of the classic King Arthur Pendragon with artwork from the Spanish edition is available here too. It's the best $35 (as an add-on) you can spend on roleplaying games.

For $25 you can get an original sketch art card from Aquelarre artist Jaime Garcia Mendoza. This is a great artifact for fans of the game or Jaime's artwork.

And for $5 the giant coin is going to be pretty great too!

Add-Ons

There are several add-ons available. They are in three categories:

RPG PDF Add-Ons

PDF version are included if you get the physical game, but a back of Aquelarre might want the KAP PDF or vice versa, so here's the list:

  • Brevarium PDF: $5
  • Aquelarre PDF: $25
  • King Arthur Pendragon Edition 5.2 PDF: $15

Physical Add-Ons For Extra Shipping

You may only add-on these items if you've pledged for a physical item, such as the DISCIPLE pledge for Aquelarre. There is an additional shipping charge that will be added at the survey. Please see the project page for details.

  • Brevarium: $25
  • Aquelarre: $55
  • Aquelarre Game Director's Screen: $20
  • King Arthur Pendragon Edition 5.2 PDF: $35
  • A Box: $60
  • Deck100 Original: $15
  • Deck100 Indie Variant: $15
  • Deck100 Aquelarre (includes a pair of d10): $20

Physical Add-Ons With Free Shipping

These items are also only available if you've pledged for a physical item, but they incur no additional shipping cost.

  • Pair of Aquelarre d10: $4 first pair then $3 per pair thereafter
  • Collection of 12 Aquelarre Art Cards: $7
  • Original Sketch Art Card: $25
  • Aquelarre Silver Coin: $5 first coin then $3 per coin thereafter

What's Up With the Limited Edition Dice?

Over Halloween weekend and then again for one day on Friday the 13th, limited edition dice pledges were available—the BLESSED levels. Anyone pledging at those levels may add limited edition dice. Anyone who has not already pledged at those levels can now only get these dice by pledging at the IMMACULATE or THE BOX levels.

There are three different d10:

  • Halloween d10: $2
  • Day of the Dead d10: $2
  • All Saints' Day d10: $2
  • Set of all three d10: $5

Thanks for your support!

Happy Birthday Aquelarre!
over 8 years ago – Sun, Nov 15, 2015 at 07:12:29 AM

Aquelarre was born 25 years ago today. Congratulations to all the creators and publishers for the success of the game. I'm very pleased that with your support for this project, Lester and I can join this august list and deliver Aquelarre to a new audience.

Stretch Goal #4 in Sight

The official stretch goal now — now including accounting for BOX add-ons to the DISCIPLE levels — is 418!

A mere 32 away from the next stretch goal.

And 82 from that bookmark. Given that three probably good days for the project remain, I feel that the bookmark is a good bet.

Now at 450 Total Backers!

Hitting the 666 and then 777 total backers seems like a longer shot right now, but the 666 at least is doable. To help boost your chances to land some free d6 at 666 and 777 backers, and taking a cue from Nosolorol's free Brevarium PDF, I'm announcing...

$5 Brevarium PDF

We haven't even created the book, so I cannot match Nosolorol's free Brevarium PDF, but given that no has yet chosen that reward level exclusively (thankfully and justifiably you all want MORE!), I am going to reduce the pledge for this PDF to a mere $5. Perhaps this will draw in a small host of backers who want to sample the game and feel $5 makes it a no-brainer.

We need another 200-ish backers then everyone who is adding dice their rewards will receive an additional 3d6, the 666 3d6 discussed in Update #9.

Another 100-ish backers beyond that and you dice collectors will also receive the 777 3d6 as a free extra!

So tell your friends! For only $5 they get a complete and playable version of Aquelarre in English!

Pledge Level Adjustments

There are no backers of the Brevarium PDF only who are affected by this, but two levels are affected:

NOVICE $5: You folks will not receive the Brevarium PDF!

VIRTUAL SCRIBE $45: You're now "overpaying" for the Brevarium PDF. I'm going to compensate by including PDFs of the 12 art cards and Deck100 Aquelarre. Hopefully you'll agree that this more than makes you whole.

More news when we hit a stretch goal count of 450!

Second Stretch Goal Achieved!
over 8 years ago – Sat, Nov 14, 2015 at 08:14:32 AM

The backer count for Aquelarre stands at 311, surpassing the 300 required to unlock the pre-made characters. Next up at 350 copies: an additional 40 Advantages and 40 Disadvantages that we'd love to include in the game!

Overall, we're trending slightly upward as we prepare an assault on the final week of the project. I think the last week is going to be nuts. How do I know this? Well, partly because I believe the word is really getting out there about Aquelarre, and all of you are a big reason why. Thanks!

But I also have lots and lots of news to announce. Some final pieces have to be put in place before I can provide complete details, but I'll leave you with this thought:
